About Dr. Todd

Dr. Todd Forman attended Wilson High School in Long Beach where he was an All-American water polo player and the CIF Scholar-Athlete of the Year for California. A graduate of Harvard University, Dr. Forman went from the “Ivy League” to the “Pac 10” to complete medical school at UCLA, residency at Santa Monica UCLA Family Practice Residency Program, and a master’s in medical education at USC. In 2000, Dr. Forman joined the faculty at USC School of Medicine and introduced a number of successful innovations in medical education and community medicine. He made basic science learning more fun and relevant by introducing first year medical students to real patients and related their stories to what they were learning in the books. Dr. Forman also inspired students to use their knowledge and power to effect positive change in underserved communities throughout East Los Angeles. He received several honors from students and colleagues for his efforts in the classroom and in the community, including the prestigious AAMC Humanism in Medicine Award and the USC Community Volunteer Award. Dr. Forman is a board-certified family physician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He joined his mother in private practice as Forman Family Medicine in late 2005 and looks forward to maintaining the same level of dedication and service to his patients and the community.

Dr. Todd Forman’s Inspiration

Nine years younger than my closest sibling, my role was not the teacher, the hero, or the role model.  I was the student, the observer – a child with open eyes.

Within the context of my family, I learned to appreciate the courage and compassion it takes to dedicate oneself to serving others in need.  I witnessed my parents taking in a young immigrant from Mexico when his parents were lost.  I watched my father as he packed up and sold his prized train collection to help put his children and wife through school.

I observed my mother hovering over chemistry textbooks way past my bedtime to follow her dreams.  I looked up to all of my siblings and they looked back at me with love, respect and a willingness to show their younger brother what the world has to offer.  I am proud that all of my family members derive meaning in the world through their service to others.

Thankfully, I now walk along a similar path as a father, husband and physician.  Indeed, family medicine is a vocation that gives me the opportunity to build greater meaning in my life.

Perhaps Churchill said it best, declaring “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”  I am dedicated to listen to you as an individual, appreciate your values and beliefs, and build a therapeutic relationship with you that will foster optimal healing and wellness.
